Insole-pressure distribution in three pressure-relief postoperative shoes
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background Patients undergoing forefoot surgery often require specific footwear to relieve the operated area. Post-operative footwear can be very different in relation to the amount of weight born by the forefoot [1,2]. While these special shoes are intended to be worn for short periods following surgery, a compromise must be found between level of comfort and functionality. In this study the insole-pressure distribution of two shoes, specifically designed to unload the forefoot, was compared to that of a comfortable shoe manufactured by the same company.

Primary metatarsalgia: the influence of a custom moulded insole and a rockerbar on plantar pressure.
The effects of a custom moulded insole and a rockerbar on peak pressure and force impulse as well as on pain scores in subjects with a history of metatarsalgia were studied. In addition the subjects' preference for the type of intervention was determined. Forty-two subjects with a history of primary metatarsalgia were selected. They were all provided with the same brand of extra depth shoes wit...
متن کاملThe influence of shoe design on plantar pressures in neuropathic feet.
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of shoe design on the plantar pressure dynamics of patients with diabetic neuropathy during walking. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS Three shoe design categories were tested. Total contact area and biomechanical variables in multiple areas under the foot were measured. RESULTS Shoes with a rocker bottom principle reduced pressure 35-...
متن کاملPressure redistribution by molded inserts in diabetic footwear: a pilot study.
A small-scale trial is described to demonstrate and evaluate the redistribution of plantar pressure resulting from the use of custom-molded inserts in the orthopedic shoes of diabetic patients at risk of plantar ulceration. A pressure-measuring insole based on force-sensitive resistor technology enabled the load distribution to be compared using molded inserts and flat inserts fitted into the s...

Objective: The aim of present study was to investigate the effect of toe only rocker with an angle of 10 and 15 degrees on the distribution of plantar pressure in healthy elderly people. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the plantar pressure of the foot and to remove excessive pressure from different parts of the plantar surface of the foot in order to maintain the independence and func...
متن کاملRepeatability of the Pedar-X in-shoe pressure measuring system.
BACKGROUND The Pedar-X is one of the newer versions of in-shoe pressure measuring devices and the current study aimed to assess the repeatability of this device. METHODS Twenty-seven healthy male volunteers were recruited and requested to walk on a 26-feet walkway wearing appropriate sized standardised off-the-shelf neutral running shoes (Donnay International). The Pedar-X insole was sandwich...
